Micki’s Meanderings
Hello again,
Hope the beautiful fall weather finds you all happy and healthy!
I also hope you are like our new “His Voice” addition to our
magazine as much as we do. There are so many amazing men and
women (young and old) in our area. We are blessed and honored
that they are willing to share their story with us. Our belief is that
everybody has a story to tell, so if you know of someone (or yourself)
that has a story they might be willing to share with our readers please
let us know. We are always open to your ideas and suggestions.
With Thanksgiving soon to be here I thought it would be timely to
share some of the things I am thankful for (in no specific order as I’m
a meanderer…)
• I am thankful for my parents who raised me to be independent,
to be responsible, to not judge others and to love unconditionally. One
of the things my Mother always said that has stuck with me over the
years is, “Do not judge others’, you never know the path life has taken
someone on until you can walk in another man’s moccasins.”
• I am thankful for my husband, my children and my
grandchildren. They bring love and light into what sometimes can
be dark days. A simple smile, word of encouragement or a phone call
from a giggling granddaughter is a blessing I don’t take for granted.
• I am thankful for the many friends that have touched my life
over the years and continue to do so. The many acts of kindness I’ve
received from them in good times and bad times have helped me get
through a great many things.
• I am thankful for the community of Yankton. We moved here a
little over thirteen years and you have embraced us and supported us
from day one.
• I am thankful for the country we live in. While it might not
always be perfect, at the end of the day I wouldn’t want to live any
place else.
• And lastly, I am thankful for diversity. Some of you might find
that odd, but to me diversity is so important in our daily lives. Too see
each person, no matter what nationality, what religion or what beliefs
they might have, as an individual and to be able to have a mutual
understanding and respect for each other is what makes the world a
better place.
Take care loyal Her Voice and His Voice readers, and take a moment
to jot down your thankful list. My list is much longer than this but we
only have so much paper, lol!
God Bless,
